Welcome to the web site for the Whidbey Island Grown brand. The brand was established by local farmers and residents to increase awareness and consumption of agricultural products grown on the Island. Agricultural areas are an important part of what makes Whidbey Island such a special place to visit and live. To preserve these areas the Island needs an economically vibrant farm community. Please join us in this effort to promote locally grown products and help preserve the rural character of the Island.

Use of the Brand by Producers and Manufacturers

The brand logo only appears on agricultural products that are grown on the Island or on processed products that contain a large portion of Whidbey Island Grown ingredients. To qualify for use of the brand, producer’s farming methods are evaluated to determine if there are adequate controls and standards to ensure responsible use of land resources. Producers that are Food Alliance or Organic certified are encouraged to display the brand on their products and need not go through an additional evaluation. Producers of processed products must show proof that they are in compliance with all applicable laws prior to being granted use of the brand graphics.

The objective of the brand is to provide Whidbey Island residents with an easy method of identifying quality products that represent the best efforts of the farming community on the Island. Agricultural producers wanting to become members of Whidbey Island Grown should go to the membership page on this web site and follow the steps provided. Use of the Brand by Merchants and Sponsors

Retailers and restaurants on the Island that purchase local agricultural products and are members of the Whidbey Island Grown program are granted the right to display the brand logo in their windows or in-store signage. Island residents are encouraged to patronize these businesses as well as those merchants who have provided monetary support for the program and display signs in support of the branding effort. Community Membership

Island residents and friends of the community can become members of Whidbey Island Grown by filling out the application on the Membership page of this web site and sending in the required funds. In return for your support you will receive an attractive T-Shirt with the Whidbey Island Grown logo and be set up to receive the Whidbey Island Grown newsletter updating you on the latest local food events on the Island.
