Our members

are the heartbeat of WIGC, offering their support, expertise, and voices to strengthen both the cooperative and the local food system. If our mission resonates with you, we invite you to become a member and contribute to our shared vision for a healthier, more sustainable future.

Who can be a member?

WIGC is a multi-stakeholder cooperative, welcoming all in our community who wish to support our local food system.

Each membership category brings unique perspectives and contributions to our cooperative, enriching the work we do. Together, we can collaborate to promote sustainability, resilience, and access to fresh, local food for all members of our community.

Our cooperative is structured to include three membership categories (may overlap)

1. Producers:

These are the individuals who grow and craft the food that nourishes our community. Whether they cultivate vegetables, raise livestock, or create artisanal products, producers are the backbone of our cooperative. As members, they have a voice in decision-making processes, representation on the board, and voting rights in cooperative matters.

2. Buyers:

This category encompasses restaurants, caterers, shops, and markets that purchase food from our local producers to either cook or resell to consumers. Buyers play a vital role in connecting producers with consumers and supporting the local economy. As members, they have the opportunity to actively engage in cooperative initiatives, participate in committees, and contribute to the cooperative's success.

3. Community Members:

These are individuals who appreciate and support our local food system by purchasing and consuming the products offered by our producers and buyers. Whether they're passionate food enthusiasts or simply enjoy the taste of locally sourced ingredients, community members are essential contributors to our cooperative.
