Our members

are the heartbeat of WIGC, offering their support, expertise, and voices to strengthen both the cooperative and the local food system. If our mission resonates with you, we invite you to become a member and contribute to our shared vision for a healthier, more sustainable future.

Who can be a member?

WIGC is a multi-stakeholder cooperative, welcoming all in our community who wish to support our local food system.

Each member brings unique perspectives and contributions to our cooperative, enriching the work we do. Together, we can collaborate to promote sustainability, resilience, and access to fresh, local food for all members of our community.

  • Created a local food distribution network called the Food Hub

  • Built out two storage facilities for small scale producers to use

  • Launched an annual local food marketing campaign called Eat Local Month

  • Created a Food Access Fund to reduce barriers to buying local food

To build and develop our programs, our members have contributed the use of farmstands and barns, trucks and vans, coolers and equipment, time, expertise, and effort. We emphasize that the co-op is a group project of producers and community members to build resilience in the local food system. All our accomplishments have been the work of many dedicated individuals.

Working together, our cooperative has accomplished a lot!

Shopping helps today. Membership helps build tomorrow.

You don’t have to be a Co-op Member to shop or sell on the Food Hub. Joining the cooperative takes your support a step further - from being a customer or vendor to becoming an active participant in shaping our island’s food future.

1. Show Producers They’re Backed by Community
Your membership tells local producers: we value you, we want you here for the long haul, we’re with you. It’s a commitment that strengthens producers’ confidence to grow, invest, and stay rooted here, even (especially!) when things get tough for them.

2. Help Grow Something Long Lasting
Membership contributions strengthen the programs and shared resources that keep Whidbey’s food system thriving today—and for the next generation.

3. Step Into Participation & Leadership
Our cooperative looks to its members to serve on the board, take on leadership roles, and bring skills and resources that help us problem solve and develop programs. We need a well-rounded membership who is willing to contribute a variety of expertise to the cooperative leadership. As a member, you have a voice in shaping the cooperative.

4. Join a Community of Action
Members aren’t just supporters; they’re collaborators. Whether volunteering at events, spreading the word, or helping expand our programs, members make the cooperative possible.
